Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Instructions for Authors.
This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Copyright Notice

The registered author has submitted the article (the "Work") for Journal of Civil Protection and Rescue published by the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies (FBERG), Technical University of Košice.

The author transfers to the FBERG, Technical University of Košice (the "Publisher") during the full term of copyright, the exclusive rights comprised in the copyright of the Work, including but not limited to the right to publish the Work and the material contained therein throughout the world, in all languages and in all media of expression now known or later developed, and to license or permit others to do so.

Notwithstanding the above, the author retains the following:

Proprietary rights other than copyright, such as patent rights.
The right to make copies of all or part of the Work for the author’s use in classroom teaching.
The right to use, after publication, all or part of the Work in a book by the author, or a collection of the author’s work.
The right to make copies of the Work for internal distribution within the institution which employs the author.
The right to use figures and tables of the Work, and up to 250 words of text, for any purpose.
The right to make oral presentations of material from the Work.
The right to publish an extended, updated or rewritten version in another periodical.
The right to include the work (post and preprint version) in an institutional repository.

The author agrees that all copies made under any of the above conditions will include a notice of copyright and a citation to the Publication.

The author represents that the Work is the author’s original work. If the Work was prepared jointly, the author agrees to inform the co-authors of the terms of this Agreement and to obtain their permission to sign on their behalf. The Work is submitted only to this journal, and has not been published before. (If excerpts from copyrighted works are included, the author will obtain written permission from the copyright owners and show credit to the sources in the Work.) The author also represents that, to the best of his or her knowledge, the Work contains no libellous or unlawful statements, does not infringe on the rights of others, or contain material or instructions that might cause harm or injury.

Privacy Statement

Each submission is checked for suitability when received by the editorial office, and may be rejected without review if it is outside the scope of the journal, insufficient quality, or it is missing important sections.

The journal invites external experts (preferably, but not only Editorial Board members) to review each submission that is considered suitable for consideration. The publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief after receiving two external reviewer reports with their recommendations.

Editor-in-Chief and the editorial office reserve the right to select different experts as reviewers for the authors’ topics of the manuscript.

The journal uses single-blind peer review (the authors do not know the identity of reviewers, but reviewers do).

On receipt of two reviews, the Editor-in-Chief will make a final decision similar as reviewers: (1) Accept Submission, (2) Revision required, (3) Resubmit for review, (4) Resubmit elsewhere, or (5) Decline submission. The reasons for the decision will be communicated to the authors.

When the decision of “Revision required” is made, and the authors do not revise their submission satisfactorily after receiving reviewer reports, then the Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject the submission. When revised submission is received the Editor-in-Chief will make a decision depending on the level of revision requested.

The time to review and make a decision is extremely variable since it is sometimes difficult to find suitable reviewers, and there may be delays in receiving reviewer reports. The Editor-in-Chief and editorial office make all efforts to minimize the time from submission to first decision. The journal aims to make a first decision (after review) within 2 – 4 months, but cannot guarantee this.

All authors contributing to the Journal of Civil Protection and Rescue are aware that their publication is under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License: CC BY This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.
